Day 1: Early Starts & Ocean Views

Before I even left home, I had been chatting with Every Day is Sunday (EDIS) over WhatsApp, building an itinerary that fit my budget, allowed for downtime, and left room for me to explore solo each day. Nothing was paid upfront — just clear costs for each activity and the comfort of knowing exactly what I’d need to spend. Calm, organised, and stress-free — exactly what I wanted for a short island escape.

On the morning of Day 1, my guide from EDIS met me for breakfast at my favourite spot in Sanur, Canvas Café. Over fluffy omelette, crispy spinach, bacon, and strong coffee, we ran through the plan for the day and confirmed all costs. No rush, just a relaxed check-in to make sure I was happy with the day ahead.

Next stop: boat tickets. EDIS had already booked me with D’Camel Fast Ferry, a company known for its spotless safety record — instant relief for my “what-if” travel brain, especially with a few tragic boat accidents making the news recently. Knowing I was on a safe, reliable operator made all the difference. Down at Sanur Harbour, check-in went smoothly, and then came a surprise add on: a VIP top-deck seat at no extra cost, thanks to their local connections.

The boat ride to Nusa Lembongan was unreal — Mount Agung in the distance, sweeping clouds, a Bintang in hand. Landing in Mushroom Bay, I stepped into turquoise water and loved watching the bright boats bobbing gently, tethered to long lines stretching along the beach. My island driver was waiting and drove me straight to my villa — a detail handled by EDIS, another moment I didn’t have to think about.

That afternoon, I walked to Dream Beach and Devil’s Tear in the pouring rain — soaked, laughing, completely alone. Watching waves explode against the cliffs was wild. Later, I joined a cooking class at a restaurant on Mushroom Beach, something EDIS had arranged after I said I wanted to learn to cook Balinese food. When the sun came out, I lounged by the pool, and wrapped up the day with sunset drinks at Sandy Bay Beach Club — with a bloody mary and sashimi-style fish I still can’t pronounce.
